It is the regular-season finale for the Blue Tornado and the final home game for 15 McCallie seniors as the football team hosts Father Ryan in a Region matchup Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Spears Stadium.
McCallie has not played a game since the October 13 victory at Baylor, enjoying an open date last weekend. The Blue Tornado carries a 6-3 overall record and a 3-2 league mark into the game.
McCallie can finish no lower than fourth place in the final league standings. However a win over Father Ryan and a Brentwood Academy win over Ensworth would move the Blue Tornado into third place, giving the team a first-round bye in the playoffs before traveling to Memphis to take on one of the four teams from the West Region two weeks from now. If other possibilities fall into place, McCallie could finish as high as second place.
The Irish are 4-5 overall, 1-4 in the Region and recorded their first league victory last week, a 37-34 win over Baylor. The Irish also have wins against Overton, Stratford and Ravenwood.
McCallie will honor its senior class prior to the game. The list of seniors includes: Xavier Brooks, Harrison Cape, Rico Dozier, Alec Earp, Jay Gibson, River Henry, Jack Longshore, Zack McAteer, Hakim McMorris, Jack Murphy, Evan Norey, Bryer Roberson, Adams Robinson, Will Stanley and Jorden Starling.
Kickoff at Spears Stadium is at 7:30 pm ET. Tickets are $10, and parking is free. The game can be viewed for free on McCallie’s live streaming service at www.McCallie.org/Live.
