The two-time defending state champions, the Brentwood Academy Eagles, visit McCallie October 6 for an important DII-AAA Region game.
The Eagles are tied for the lead the region standings with a 3-0 mark and are 6-0 overall on the season. They are averaging 38.5 points per game while only allowing an impressive 10.3 points including last week’s 26-0 shutout of Baylor. Brentwood Academy is ranked No. 1 in the state’s top division and No. 18 in a national prep poll.
McCallie has played the Eagles tough over the last few meetings including last year’s 42-32 loss in the regular season finale.
The Blue Tornado, 5-2 and 2-1 in the Region, are tied for third place with Ensworth. They have scored 44 or more points in all but one of the five victories. The squad got back on the winning track last week with a 49-14 road victory at Pope John Paul II. In the win, the offense produced a season-high 546 yards, and the defense forced four turnovers and recorded five sacks.
Freshman B.J. Harris ran for 145 yards and scored three touchdowns, and DeAngelo Hardy threw for 320 yards and a score to pace the attack.
Kickoff is at 7:30 pm, and parking on campus is free. The game can be viewed on McCallie’s live stream service at www.McCallie.org/Live.
