Three McCallie seniors named National Merit Semifinalists

Three McCallie seniors were named National Merit Semifinalists for 2017 by the National Merit Scholarship Program this month for their outstanding scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Semifinalist Qualifying Test in 2016.

Day students Maclain Aslinger and Andrew Aultman, along with boarding student Nathaniel Little from Atlanta, were named as three of the approximately 16,000 semifinalists nationwide.

McCallie students shine in 2016 Advanced Placement test results

McCallie once again excelled in Advanced Placement exams, with results significantly stronger than state and national norms and with scores unmatched in the region. A relatively few schools around the country are likely to have scores that match or exceed these.

McCallie junior Liu performs in Carnegie Hall youth orchestra program

Rising junior Allen Liu spent two-weeks this summer training and performing with an all-star youth orchestra as part of Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 program.

Liu, a day student and talented violinist from Chattanooga, was selected to participate in the program sponsored by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute to provide instruction for outstanding young American instrumentalists ages 14–17.

The program is highly competitive with all expenses paid for students selected to participate in the program at Purchase College, SUNY, which is just north of New York City in Westchester County.
