McCallie and Baylor will hold their annual meeting on the football field October 13. Kickoff at Baylor’s Heywood Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Blue Tornado will try to reverse the trend and win on the Red Raiders’ home turf. In the past four meetings, the home team has won on its home field. McCallie claimed the rivalry game last season 42-7.
Baylor carries a 3-4 overall record into the game and is 1-2 in Region play. The Red Raiders have wins over local teams Notre Dame and Chattanooga Christian and a 42-14 Region victory over Pope John Paul II.
The Red Raiders are in fifth place in the Region standings, one game behind McCallie.
The Blue Tornado fell to 2-2 inside the Region and 5-3 overall after last week’s 46-24 home loss to top-ranked Brentwood Academy. McCallie was within striking distance at halftime, trailing 24-17. The Eagles outscored McCallie 22-7 in the second half to hold on for the victory.
McCallie’s B.J. Harris scored two rushing touchdowns, Rico Dozier caught an eight-yard scoring pass, and Alec Earp connected on a 33-yard field goal.
The Eagles held the Blue Tornado to 287 total yards and produced a balanced offensive attack with 274 rushing yards and 277 passing yards.
