With the end of the 2016-17 school year approaching, it's time to begin thinking about summer reading.
This summer's upper-school-wide book is "The Other Wes Moore" by Wes Moore. It tells the true story of two men who grew up in Baltimore just a few blocks from each other, but did not know of each other until an event put their name in the paper and brought them together. It is a story of how lives can unfold in dramatically divergent ways, possibly because of the smallest of differences.
In addition to reading "The Other Wes Moore," each returning student in the Upper School will need to participate in one other summer reading group. The other summer reading books can be found in the summer reading brochure.
For ninth-graders and other students new to the Upper School, "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" by Mark Haddon will be required summer reading. The brochure for students new to the upper school can be found here.
Students will sign up for book groups next week using this schedule:
- Rising seniors: Friday, May 12 after Chapel
- Rising juniors: Monday, May 15 after Chapel
- Rising sophomores: Wednesday, May 17 after Chapel
Student lists and assignments will be sent to students during exam week.
