For years, McCallie has been a leader in helping exceptional boys find the right college, and last month the school played host to college counselors from boys schools across the country through the International Boys Schools Coalition.
During the event, McCallie welcomed the leaders of college admission departments from a variety of schools, including Rhodes College, Trinity College, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Purdue University and Belmont University. The conference traveled to Sewanee: The University of the South for a day and then returned to McCallie.
"It was wonderful to have our colleagues from other boys schools on campus, as well as representatives from so many top colleges," said Jeff Kurtzman, McCallie's director of college counseling.
In addition to the counselors' conference, McCallie boys in the junior class spent time with the college admission representatives in a series of seminars helping them learn more about the college admission process and the work of finding the college that will fit them best.
"We're focused at McCallie on helping boys find the best college for their needs, so the opportunity for our juniors to meet with and learn from people deeply involved in that process at such a diverse group of colleges and universities is powerful," said Kurtzman.
