IMGP6037.jpgMcCallie students continue to produce strong results in national academic testing with nine seniors earning National Merit Commended status for 2018 as a result of strong performances in 2017 on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Semifinalist Qualifying Test.

National Merit Commended status puts these students in the top 5 percent of all students taking the PSAT/NMSQT.

The McCallie students earning National Merit Commended status are:

  • Dwansh Bista
  • Brandon Brown
  • Andrew Cook
  • Alexander Free
  • Jack Jestus
  • Sawyer Lyons
  • Griffin McCloy
  • Jackson Shell
  • Ross Stitts

These accomplished students join McCallie’s six National Merit Semifinalists — Chase Gaume, Andrew Landsbergen, Gavin LaPlace, Allen Liu, Ahmad Nisar and Jaewon Sung — as some of the top performers in PSAT/NMSQT testing nationwide.

Approximately 1.5 million high school juniors from more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Approximately 50,000 are recognized as high scorers with about 34,000 being National Merit Commended scholars and the rest moving on as National Merit Semifinalists.
