McCallie students continue to produce strong results in national academic testing with 12 seniors earning National Merit Commended status for 2019 as a result of strong performances in 2018 on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Semifinalist Qualifying Test.
National Merit Commended status puts these students in the top 5 percent of all students taking the PSAT/NMSQT.

These accomplished students join McCallie’s four National Merit Semifinalists — James Leung, Mac Poston, Thomas Shikoh and Harrison Stuart — as some of the top performers in PSAT/NMSQT testing nationwide.
Approximately 1.6 million high school juniors from more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Approximately 50,000 are recognized as high scorers with about 34,000 being National Merit Commended scholars and the rest moving on as National Merit Semifinalists.
