Introducing “Views” – A Beginner’s Guide
Views from the Ridge is a blog aimed at examining issues of boys and education from a variety of perspectives, from reflecting on national articles to offering a runway perspective of life at a boys school.
Views will offer regular contributions from several members of the McCallie School faculty and administration and guest contributions from current students. We welcome additional contributors with experiences and perspectives on these issues.
Views from the Ridge officially launched on August 31, 2010, and currently includes the following topic/categories:
* A Word to the Wise – Kenny Sholl, McCallie’s head of the Upper School, writes a weekly letter to the students (and their parents) regarding campus news, school highlights, rules & regulations, or sagely advice. Appears on Sunday or Monday.
Parents, experts, or especially educators and administrators from other independent schools are encouraged to participate in this format.
* Caldwell Writing Center – Caldwell Chair of Writing Chet LeSourd and assistant director Erin Tocknell will offer regular insights on boys, the craft of writing, and the goals and challenges of a writing center.
* Posts from the Ridge – Communications director Billy Faires will share links to national stories on boys, education, independent schools, parents, and other topics relevant to those who live on the Ridge.
* The Runway Perspective – Student contributors will offer their up close and personal accounts of the minor details and major highlights of life on the Ridge as they are preparing to launch into their college careers and life beyond an all-boys school.
“Views” welcomes guest contributors interested in these issues. Parents, experts, or especially educators and administrators from other independent schools are encouraged to participate in this format.
